From the early age of twelve, Shiva Shankar has dedicated his life to exploring the sacred science of Veda and Yoga.
❑He successfully completed a three-year course in Vedic Science and Meditation at the largest Vedic university in the world (Maharshi Ashram, Ghaziabad).
❑Shiva met his Sadguru, Swami Chidananda Saraswati in 1993, and was initiated by him into the Hindu monastic religious order at the Divine Life Society founded by Swami
Sivananda in Rishikesh.
❑As a Sivananda disciple, Shiva trained under the practices ‘serve, love, meditate and realize’, and was taught by world
renowned yoga experts including Swami Adhyatmananda, Swami Yogaswarupananda, Swami Vishwarupananda, Acharya
Venkatesh, Shri. Vinay Kumar, Shri. Prashant S Iyengar, Geeta S Iyengar, and Rudradev Gauda.
❑Shiva then travelled throughout India to spread the divine message of Swami Sivananda before moving to the Holy Kailas Ashram in Rishikesh. There, in the monastic order of
Maharshi Veda Vyasa and Adishankaracharya, Shiva studied the classical philosophies and Sanskrit scriptures of the Indian
❑After training with Himalayan Yogis in the Hatha Yoga tradition, Shiva joined the Iyengar Institute, Pune in 1997 to deepen his experience of yoga through asanas, pranayama,
and yoga therapy.
❑His Yogic and spiritual education continued at SVYASA in Bangalore, Bihar School of Yoga at Munger, Kaivalya Dham at Lonavla, Sivananda School in Kerala, Atma Vikasa Kendra at
Mysore, Pranavasya School at Mysore, Dayananda Ashram Rishikesh, Kriya Yoga Ashram in Ranchi and Calcutta, Yoga Study Centre at Rishikesh, Varanasi Advaita Ashram and
Swami Ram Ashram.

Daily Master Classes are rooted in the Classical Hatha Yoga tradition with its holistic approach and will take place on the following dates. Classes are suitable for all levels of experience.

[A] Hatha Yoga
*Asana – (Uttishtha Sthiti – Standing Asanas, Upavishtha Sthiti- Sitting Asanas, Paschima Pratana Sthiti- Forward Extension Asanas, Parivritta Sthiti- Lateral Extension Asanas, Viparita Sthiti- Inversions, Udara Akunchana Sthiti- Abdominal Contraction Asanas, Surya – Chandra Namaskara, Purva Pratana Sthiti- Backward Extension Asanas, Supine & Prone Postures, Asana through props, Restorative and Meditative Asanas) – For building up immunity, strength, flexibility, focus, endurance, vitality, metabolism, balance, and harmony in the systems. The points of focus on technicality, perfection, the art of usage of props, adjustment & alignment methods, and therapeutic & healing application. You will also learn the Classical Hatha Yoga Flow and various sequences to expand the foundation of your Yoga practice. You will be led step by step through easy and safe methods to make your journey enlightening and adventurous and master in basic to advanced poses.
*Bandha – 3 Major Bandhas – Mula, Uddiyana, Jalandhara, with its supplementary elements and preparatory methods.
*Kriya: 16 Kriyas – Purification, detox, rejuvenating, activating, and awakening techniques.

[B] Prana-Brahma Yoga
*Pranayama – 14 Pranayama and Prana Kriya Techniques for purification of energy pathways, and channeling Prana for taming the latent energy, and creating holistic healing, & life transcendence. Thus we create tranquility, inner quietness, illumination, and uninterrupted peace within.
*Mantra & Mudra – Healing: Vedic & Tantric roots. You will learn the proper pronunciation and rhythm to chant the selected Mantras from Veda and Tantra tradition with its ritualistic aspect, which brings you enormous spiritual insights and strength to conquer inner obstacles and make your life more magical and uplifting. You will learn various Mudras which would help energy flow to be more concentrated, and effective.
*Meditation – From Shiva’s teaching -Vijnana Bhairava Tantra & Kundalini Tantra for developing SELF – awareness, and transcending the consciousness for spiritual enlightenment. Meditation and mindfulness are buzzwords these days for good reason. Yogis have been practicing dhyana (meditation) for millennia. Get expert insight here on meditation and its symbiotic relationship to yoga. You will learn few specific methods as your go-to resource for simple tips and guided practices to quiet your mind and make meditation part of your modern daily life.
